Grabbing images on screen

Did you know you can grab anything that is showing on screen? Try the following shortcuts or launch the grab utility from the Applications>Utilities folder.

Very handy indeed.

Command-Shift-3: Take a screenshot of the screen, and save it as a file on the desktop
Command-Shift-4, then select an area: Take a screenshot of an area and save it as a file on the desktop
Command-Shift-4, then space, then click a window: Take a screenshot of a window and save it as a file on the desktop
Command-Control-Shift-3: Take a screenshot of the screen, and save it to the clipboard
Command-Control-Shift-4, then select an area: Take a screenshot of an area and save it to the clipboard
Command-Control-Shift-4, then space, then click a window: Take a screenshot of a window and save it to the clipboard

In Leopard, the following keys can be held down while selecting an area (via Command-Shift-4 or Command-Control-Shift-4)

Using Spotlight

Use Spotlight to find anything easily or even navigate around your Mac. In the top left of your screen you will see a magnifying glass like the one pictured right. Click it and a search box will appear. Type whatever you are looking for and it will display anything relating to your search. It could be an application, a photo, a word document or even a contact from your address book. Very cool!

To eject a disk or USB device on your desktop highlight it by clicking it once, then press these keys. Hold down the APPLE (command) key then press E

Quickly attach and item to e-mail

To attach a item to an e-mail using Mail. Drag the item you wish to attach to the mail icon in the dock. This will create a new e-mail and attach the item automatically. Very handy. more info
