Q. How far in advanced do I need to book an appointment?
A. The sooner the better. You have a better chance of getting a visit convenient to you if you book well in advance.
Q. Do I need to pay for onsite services straight away?
A. If you are a new customer we need to take payment for our visit once complete.
Q. What is the best way to make payment for onsite services?
A. The Mac Man will accept cash,cheques,online bank transfers and debit/credit cards. Our preferred payment method is credit card/debit card. We can also accept PayPal payments.
Q. Is there a call out charge?
A. We don't charge for a call out if you are inside our service area (see below). We just bill for the time we spend with you. Nothing else. If you're outside this then take a look below for example call out charges.
Q. Where are you based? How far will you travel?
A. We are based in Brighton, East Sussex but cover all of Sussex and Dorset. We are willing to consider most distances. A 30 mile radius around Brighton and Dorchester is a good rule of thumb, but drop us a line to check. If we're near you at the time we might not need to charge you a call out fee. If we are travelling to you especially then the below is a guide. Mileage is worked out from BN1.  Examples of call out charges :
Horsham - £20.00  |  Crawley - £20.00  |  Bognor Regis - £25.00  |  Eastbourne - £20.00
If you live within the below service area there is no call out charge.
Q. Will you collect and return my Mac for me?
 A. We can do yes. If you are in our service area shown above. We will collect your Mac for £4.99. We will collect and return your Mac for £9.99.

Q. How much do you charge?
A. Pricing is listed on the relevant service page. Please check there.
Q. What happens if I miss your appointment?
A. If we arrive at your premises/home and no one is in we will charge you for 30 minutes of our time. If we have agreed travel expenses with you then these charges will also apply.
Q. What happens if you damage my equipment whilst working on it?
A. The Mac Man and all associates are insured for such events. We have public liability insurance up to £1,000,000.00 & professional indemnity insurance up to £500,000.00
Q. Can I cancel my appointment at any time?
A. Yes you can, but ideally The Mac Man would like at least 2 hours notice before the appointment start time. You will not be charged to cancel your appointment.
Q. Do you charge by the hour?
A. We charge in blocks of 15 minutes and round it down to the nearest block. So if we visited and left you at 13.55 we would charge you up until 13.45,

Q. I need to know my data is safe. Can I trusts The Mac Man to protect this?
A. We can only give you our word on this. Our policy is to never look at any data in more detail than is necessary to recover or repair it. It's a tricky area and we understand the importance of the issue. We have drawn up a Privacy Document detailing or privacy terms and conditions. If you wish to view this you can by clicking here>

Q. What is Skype and why do you use it?
A. Skype is a free piece of software that enables you to communicate with others for free. It doesn't contain any spyware and is a great way to stay in touch. We use it to support our customers who require a rapid response. Sometimes e-mail just isn't quick enough.  If you would like to try it for free, you can download it here

A. If you are a new customer, we would need to take full payment for our visit upon completion, don't forget that complete means; when you're happy!

Q. Is there a minimum charge?

A. Our minimum charge is £25.00 This covers 30 minutes of our time. This does mean that if we are only with you for 10 minutes, the £25.00 fee applies.

Q. Do you charge by the hour?

A. We charge in blocks of 15 minutes and round it down to the nearest block. So if we arrive at 1:00pm and left you at 1.55pm, we would only charge you up until 1.45pm.
